These seed packages are an easy way to introduce wildflowers and prairie grasses to your landscape, whether it be at home or at the cottage. Seed is slower than plugs and pots to produce flowers but seeding is much easier and more economical.
For direct seeding outdoors simply spread the seed in October or November or in spring. Seed can be spread on bare soil or in very sparse grass. Seed must have good soil contact to germinate and grow. For varieties that require stratifying (as indicated below), late fall or early spring is the best time for seeding. See Planting & Seeding Guide for more information.
For starting seed indoors, the directions for each species are listed below. Germinate all species at 21 degrees unless otherwise noted. Cover seed to a depth of 2-4x the thickness of the seed unless otherwise noted. Click here for stratifcation instructions.
Packets contain 50-100+ seeds. Please phone or email before seed pickup for the 100g or more size.
Our original seed sources come from within Manitoba. We produce seed at our nursery. We do not wild havest seed to sell. Our seed is hand collected and hand cleaned. Goldenrods, asters, blazing stars, Ironweed and Joe Pye will have fluff still attached to the seeds.
