These seed packages are an easy way to intoduce wildflowers and prairie grasses to your landscape, whether it be at home or at the cottage. Seed is slower than plugs and pots to produce flowers but seeding is much easier and more economical.

For direct seeding outdoors simply spread the seed in October or November or in spring. Seed can be spread in very sparse grass or on bare soil. For varieties that require stratifying (as indicated below), late fall or early spring is the best time for seeding.

For starting seed indoors, the directions for each species are listed below. Germinate all species at 21 degrees unless otherwise noted.

*Stratify means to give a cold, moist treatment. You can mix the seed with damp sand or peat moss and place in the fridge or seed the trays and place the trays in a cold room around 2-6 degrees.
**Scarify means to rub with coarse sandpaper to break the seed coat.
