Sweetgrass Braids

$7.50 each - Available at Prairie Originals & by pre-order at the St. Norbert Farmer's Market.

Our Sweetgrass braids are made on site using leaves that are collected from our own sweetgrass patch. Many people comment on how nice our store smells with these hanging on the walls.

Sweetgrass (Weengush) is a sacred herb that is widely used by many First Nations people. The sweet smelling braids are burned as incense in Sweetgrass Ceremonies for cleansing, purification & healing. Ceremonial smudging brings positive energies of love & removes negative forces. It cleanses the body, mind and spirit. Sweetgrass is also used for medicinal tea. It is native to North America & northern Europe. It gets its distinctive scent from Coumarin, an anticoagulant.
